What is IBAN?

IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is an internationally standardized form of account number enabling the payment receiver to clearly identify an account, country or a bank institution.

Each EU country has a given national length and structure of the IBAN account number, which consists of:

  •  bank code (identification code),
  •  country code,
  •  and basic account number.

National format has fixed length.
In the EU the number of digits in IBAN account number format is 11 to 34.

In Slovakia IBAN always has 24 digits.
