Slovenská sporiteľňa has been awarded a green bank certificate. This proves not only its leadership in providing complex financial services in the Slovak banking market, but also its attitude towards environmental protection. Slovenská sporiteľňa is also the first bank in the whole Erste Group to achieve this certificate. As the largest bank in Slovakia it abides by the rules for improving the environment, particularly in areas of energy consumption, information technologies, waste handling, transport, paper consumption, cooperation with NGOs and procurement of goods and services.

Official preparation for the acquisition of this prestigious certificate began in December 2014, but the Bank in fact began to prepare even earlier, in 2011. Slovenská sporiteľňa brought the certification process to a successful conclusion under the supervision of experts in November 2015, by way of an audit at the Bratislava Head office and at various workplaces throughout Slovakia. In environmental protection the Bank proceeds according to ISO 14001:2004 (STN EN ISO 14001/2005) Environmental Management Systems.
