Nadácia Slovenskej sporiteľne in 2009 – that’s 160 projects for almost EUR 700 thousand
Last year, Nadácia Slovenskej sporiteľne realized two open and two employee grant programs. As part of these projects, it supported 63 projects with more than EUR 57 thousand. The remaining amount was distributed into projects outside of grant programs from the area of culture, education, sport, health or environment.
Education – 40 projects in the amount of more than EUR 135 thousand
Together with Slovenská sporiteľňa, Nadácia Slovenskej sporiteľne collaborates with 13 Slovak universities on a long-term basis. In 2009 alone, it realized 28 projects for more than EUR 50 thousand with these universities. Within the project I think economically which is realized in cooperation with the weekly Trend, 38 pedagogues from high schools are educated. They then organize discussion clubs with their students where they mainly concentrate on learning to analyse and argue. Through education to success is a scholarship program realized in cooperation with the civic association Úsmev ako dar (smile as a gift) for 40 children from children homes who study at colleges or pursue postgradual studies. The project Jazz goes to school, in which Lucia Lužinská travels Slovakia and explains to high schools students basic information on jazz and its development, starts its third year.
Sport – 42 projects, more than EUR 137 thousand
The foundation supports young promising talents from the Slovak canoe association and also Slovak association of physically handicapped sportsmen for five years. Through the employee grant program Support your club, sport clubs, in which employees of Slovenská sporiteľňa are active, were supported for the first time in 2009. In total, we supported 17 of these clubs with EUR 8,500.
Culture– 15 projects, almost EUR 300 thousand
In the area of culture, the foundation has several long-term partnerships such as support of theatres in Prešov, Nitra, Martin, Radišinské naivné divadlo (Radošina naïve theatre), support of philharmonic orchestra in Košice, Žilina and Bratislava or cooperation with Bratislava and Žilina Puppet Theatre.
Environment – 7 projects, almost EUR 20 thousand
The grant program Green schoolyards supported environmental projects of organizations from the third sector with emphasis on environment. Its focus was on establishment of exterior green classrooms, creation and revitalization of school gardens and modification of school grounds.
Health – 20 projects, almost EUR 70 thousand
By means of financial support, we are aiming to reconstruct hospital premises and improve the health care conditions. In 2009, we helped for example the Clinic of pediatric urology in the city district of Kramáre in Bratislava or Šrobár’s Institute for Pediatric TBC and Respiration Diseases in Dolný Smokovec. The shelter for abandoned animals in Trnava uses the so called Canistherapy – treatment of children from special schools, hyperactive children or children with cerebral palsy and autistic individuals. Last year, we donated money to improve the premises of this shelter and conditions of therapy realization.
„In total, we’ve supported almost 500 projects with approximately EUR 2 million. The year 2009 may be considered a very successful one. We continued our long-term partnerships and also started many new projects”, says Marta Krejcarová, Head of Board of Directors of Nadácia Slovenskej sporiteľne.
The year 2010
Nadácia Slovenskej sporiteľne will continue with long-term partnerships and concentrate mainly on support of sport activities and youth. The employee grant program Euro to euro (previously Crown to crown) will also be announced. It is our grant with the longest duration – this year, it will be announced for the fifth time and through this grant, we’ve already supported 135 projects with an amount of EUR 85 thousand.
