Historical figures achieved for payment cards in December
- 7 million transactions with payment cards of Slovenská sporiteľňa in December 2011,
- more than 17% increase of card payments compared with December 2010,
- more than 23 thousand purchases in the amount of more than EUR 780 thousand realized on 23 December in one hour,
- more than 18 thousand withdrawals from ATMs of Slovenská sporiteľňa realized
on 9 December in one hour, - the bank rewarded clients with more than EUR 2.2 mil. for card payments in 2010.
Clients of Slovenská sporiteľňa realized more than 4 million card transactions via payment terminals, which is an increase by more than 17 % compared with the corresponding period in 2010. The volume of purchases also increased significantly, clients realized purchases in the amount of more than EUR 120 mil., i.e. more than a 10% increase compared with December 2010.
In December 2011, clients realized almost 3 million withdrawals from ATMs of Slovenská sporiteľňa in total volume of more than EUR 310 million, accounting for an increase of more than 2% in terms of transaction volume. “The data from December confirmed the long-term trend that people increasingly use payment cards also for smaller purchases and card payments are becoming the preferred choice compared to cash withdrawals,” said Milan Bednár, Head of Card Products Department of Slovenská sporiteľňa.
Record in payments with cards was hit on 23 December from 11am to 12am when clients used their cards to pay for more than 23 thousand purchases in the amount of more than EUR 780 thousand. This means more than 6 payments each second. The ATMs of Slovenská sporiteľňa were used the most on 9 December from 14pm to 15pm, clients realized more than 18 thousand transactions in one hour.
Each month, Slovenská sporiteľňa rewards all Personal account holders with 0.5% from each purchase. Thank to this “Money back” service, the bank rewarded its clients with a total of EUR 2.2 mil. in 2011.

- Sign your card immediately upon receipt.
- Don’t write your PIN code on the card and don’t store it together with your card.

- Keep your card and personal identification separately.
- When using the payment card for internet purchases, use only secure and trusted sites.
- Apply for the SMS notification service, you will receive an SMS after each turnover on your account.
- When withdrawing cash from ATMs, examine the ATM closely – especially the opening in which the card is inserted and check whether there is no foreign device installed.
- When entering your PIN code, cover the keypad with the other hand, so that it’s not possible to see the code.
- Set your limits for cash withdrawal and card payments, so that they are not too high.

- Check your account statements regularly. If you find any irregularities, contact the bank immediately.
