From today, all 628 ATMs of Slovenská sporiteľňa offer the cardholders an opportunity to withdraw  such combinations of banknotes that suit them most. The Bank implements this service as the first bank on the Slovak market.

New functionality enables clients to select both the amount and the values of banknotes withdrawn from ATM. Until present day, specific cash amounts or an option Other Amount was shown on the display when   PIN code was entered and the Cash Withdrawal was chosen by a client. It is just the option Other Amount that is going to be replaced by Selection of Banknotes (Figure no.1). When Selection of Banknotes is chosen by a client, an offer of specific banknotes is displayed (Figure 2). Having entered required amount using the numeric keypads, ATM offers a client specific number of banknotes which altogether create required amount. Offered combination of banknotes may be optionally changed using the keypads on both sides of the display (Figure no.3).There is also an opportunity to select required number of specific banknotes instead of offered amount using the Plus or Minus keypads. ATM will offer a client only currently available banknote values. Maximum number of banknotes permitted per one withdrawal is 40 pieces.

„The main advantage of this service for clients is an opportunity to select such combination of banknotes that suits them most. Everyday experience suggests that many people do not want to withdraw  round amounts (like EUR 100),  they prefer amounts like e.g. EUR 90 since they like getting a higher number of smaller banknotes in order to avoid problems with their changing or situations when merchants are not able to give back smaller banknotes to a client. The option Selection of Banknotes gives clients an opportunity to select banknotes they need most at the moment,“ said Peter Šmíd, Head of Payment Card Administration of Slovenská sporiteľňa.

Statistics of ATM withdrawals made between 01.01.2008 – 31.12.2008 confirms that Other Amount was among the most frequent options selected by clients. Out of all options offered this one was chosen by almost one third of clients.
