ATMs and POS terminals of Slovenská sporiteľňa were successfully converted to euro at midnight

ATMs and POS terminals were the first to be converted to the new currency in Slovenská sporiteľňa at midnight. From the beginning of the New Year, ATMs are issuing euro cash and POS terminals are processing euro payments made by payment cards.

The first ATM of Slovenská sporiteľňa issued euro cash (10 €) at 00h: 01m: 40s at the train station in Leopoldov (approximately 60 km north-eastern from Bratislava), followed ten seconds later by ATM in Bratislava on Zelena street (50 €).

The first euro payment in the New Year through POS terminal of Slovenská sporiteľňa was realized at 00h: 17m: 25s in one of Bratislava hotels.

“We have successfully achieved the first milestones of the euro changeover. We have converted the koruna balances in all bank products to euro at midnight. Thanks to the POS terminals and ATMs, our clients had access to euro already in the first moments of the year 2009. Conversion of other bank systems is still going on. Bank services will be provided in full scope again from Monday, 5 January 2009”, Regina Ovesny-Straka, Chairperson of the Board of Directors and General Manager of Slovenská sporiteľňa said.

ATMs
Since the beginning of 2009, all ATMs of Slovenská sporiteľňa issue only euros. At first, 10 and 20 euro banknotes are issued, later on also 50 and 100 euro banknotes. Under the new conditions, clients will be able to select from a preset offer of 10, 20, 40, 50, 100 and 150 euros, or any other amount that is a multiple of ten euros.

Electronic banking
From the very first seconds of the New Year, electronic banking displays account balances as of 31 December 2008. Till 4 January, clients will be able to enter via electronic banking only payment orders with the soonest possible value date on 5 January 2009.

Bank’s points of sale
At the beginning of January, Slovenská sporiteľňa exchanges korunas for euros in two thirds of its more than 270 sales points also during bank holidays. The majority of sales points of the Bank will be open on Thursday 1 January 2009 from 10 to 14 hours, on Friday and Saturday 2 and 3 January 2009 from 8 to 18 hours and on Sunday 4 January 2009 from 10 to 16 hours. Sales points of the Bank will be open also on 6 January 2009 mainly from 10 to 16 hours.
