Nadácia Slovenskej sporiteľne awarded the Študentské slovo magazine in Košice for its contribution to the improvement of financial literacy at secondary schools. Awarding ceremony was held on 30 April in Zvolen on the occasion of the evaluation of the nation-wide competition of young journalists organized under the name Štúrovo pero. Owing to the support of Nadácia Slovenskej sporiteľne, from the beginning of the new school year the winning magazine Študentské slovo will be issued as a full colour magazine

As many as 19 school magazines, which took part in the competition, brought through economic columns very useful banking and financial information. The winners from the Grammar School at Šrobárova street in Košice created quite original supplement  „Economic and financial literacy for the (almost) advanced“. This supplement presents basic financial info to secondary school students in a very simple and entertaining form. Even the well-known statement „Time is Money“ is explained there through various formulas and examples, and the supplement also brings definitions of the most widely used financial terms.

Nadácia Slovenskej sporiteľne is going to continue this awarding also in the upcoming years. „For students, these school magazines constitute a natural source of information, therefore they are seen an excellent opportunity for acquiring financial education,“ explains Marta Krejcarová, head of communication and sponsoring of Slovenská sporiteľňa.
