Almost half a million euro was withdrawn from ice-hockey ATMs
Almost 4, 400 transactions were executed and EUR 500 thousand withdrawn by fans from mobile ATMs located nearby the hockey arenas during the Ice-hockey championship. As for the amount of money withdrawn from ATM „the record holder“ was a Czech visitor, who, shortly before the semi-final with Sweden, withdrew as much as EUR 3,000. During the Ice-hockey championship, mobile ATMs of Slovenská sporiteľňa were available at the hockey arenas in Bratislava and Košice for the sports fans 24 hours a day.
Fans in Bratislava withdrew substantially more from ATM than those in Košice, when an average amount of money withdrawn from ATM at the Orange Arena achieved EUR 117, compared to EUR 91 withdrawn from an ATM container at the Steel Arena in Košice. As for the amount of money withdrawn from ATM „the record holder“ was a Czech visitor, who withdrew as much as EUR 3,000 shortly before the semi-final with Sweden.
The second and third runner ups were also the Czech funs with their withdrawals worth EUR 2, 000 and EUR1, 500. The record holder in Košice was a Belarus hockey fan whose ATM withdrawal achieved EUR 2,000.
ATMs were most intensely used during the closing day of the Championship, when in the course of a Sunday afternoon (between 14:00-17:00) as many as 119 fans withdrew money from ATM, i. e. ATM withdrawal was executed per every 1.5 minute. Despite „a very good temper“ prevailing at the hockey arenas during this Championship, it did not happen at all that by mistake an incorrect PIN would be three times in a row entered into ATM and card retained in the ATM.
„Again it was confirmed that mobile ATMs are very popular among clients. Many fans coming from abroad withdrew from our ATM at equally advantageous conditions like home“, explains Štefan Panenka, head of product unit of Slovenská sporiteľňa. Advantageous conditions were offered to clients of the Erste Group banks, which was especially welcomed by sports funs from Austria and the Czech Republic.
ATM at the Bratislava hockey arena will further be available not only for the sports fans, but also for the general public. Mobile ATM, which was installed in Košice, will be travelling along Slovakia, and it will offer its services to clients at several summer festivals, such as the the Trenčín´ s Pohoda.
