In 2010, EUR 1.5 million were donated by Nadácia Slovenskej sporiteľne to support as many as 232 projects. Nadácia Slovenskej sporiteľňe pursued its  long-term sponsoring strategy also in the previous year, and its activities again focused the projects in cultural, education and sports area. In doing so, Nadácia followed a 190 years old business model of Erste Group. „It is quite natural for us to invest a portion of profit arising from business activities back into society  through a broad range of grant programs and projects,“ explains Marta Krejcarová, member of the Managing Board of Nadácia  Slovenskej sporiteľne.

Sports: Eight exterior multi-functional sports fields
Among the largest projects of Nadácia Slovenskej sporiteľne in sports area belong eight exterior multi-functional sports fields that were constructed with support of the Foundation in various regions and that are now available for children and adults in Brezno, Krásna nad Kysucou, Pezinok, Prešov, Rimavská Sobota, Trebišov, Trnava, and in Zlaté Moravce. The play fields are located nearby Elementary schools and are mainly intended for elementary school attendants. During the after -school hours these sports grounds are available for all people living in the nearby communities.
Among another interesting projects supported by the Foundation was the 1st year of  the grant program Football, that´ s  the Game! As much as EUR 200 000 were allocated to 25 projects, mainly the football clubs for young non-professional football players throughout Slovakia. Ultimate goal of this activity was an overall support to activities conducted by sporting organizations and football clubs in  cities and municipalities throughout Slovakia.

Social aid: Floods in Slovakia
When it comes to social aids, the largest amount (as much as EUR 300 000) was provided by the Foundation to people suffering from consequences of this year´ s floods. This support was realised through two organisations – Association of Towns and Municipalities of Slovakia (hereinafter referred to ZMOS) and a civic organisation People in Peril which organised a public collection SOS Floods. Total amount of EUR 250 000 was allocated through ZMOS to 70 Slovak municipalities. Allocated funds were mainly used for the restoration of traffic infrastructure. Money collected through public collection  SOS Floods (in total EUR 50 thousand) were mainly distributed  in Zemplín, Šariš and Spiš regions. In the phase one, the funds will reach a wider community, when primarily the dry toilets, water pumps, dehydrating devices or basic hygienic utensils will be bought. In the phase two, the material will be bought for the reconstruction of damaged houses.

Education: Financial literacy improvement
Nadácia Slovenskej sporiteľne cooperates with 15 universities in Slovakia, where total number of 18 projects were supported  by EUR 35 000.
In 2010, the main focus of the Foundation was an overall improvement of financial literacy at various target groups.

• The project Know Your Money (www.poznaj.sk), is supported by Nadácia Slovenskej sporiteľne in cooperation with Nadácia pre deti Slovenska/The Foundation for Children in Slovakia. Currently, almost 100 secondary schools over the Slovak territory have been involved in the project. Through an optional school subject Personal Finance Management the students involved in the project learn how to best manage their money can be managed the best.
• In 2010, a pilot project The Training Bank was kicked off for students of Business Academy Imricha Karvaša in Bratislava, where students have the opportunity to learn standard banking activities. The software specially developed for this purpose enables students to learn how to calculate the client´ s rating, open an account or choose a payment card.
• Slovenská sporiteľňa in cooperation with the weekly Trend has for several years been organizing panel discussions Thinking economically at 55 secondary schools, exclusively dealing with economic topics.

Culture: Support for Slovak theatres and philharmonic orchestras
A couple of partnerships have been developed in cultural area.  Radošinské naivné divadlo/Radošina Naive Theatre as well as the theatres in Nitra, Martin and Prešov have been supported for a couple of years. The Foundation is also a partner to several philharmonic orchestras and to Bábkové divadlo/Puppet Theatre in Bratislava.

Health: Radničkine trhy - a presentation and selling event of handicapped people
In 2010, Nadácia Slovenskej sporiteľne also supported: The Adeli Association – a project Early Physiotherapy,  A League for Mental Health – a project Mental Health focusing the secondary schools.
In cooperation with the civic organisation Inclusion, a selling and presentation event of handicapped people Radničkine trhy has been organised by Nadácia  Slovenskej sporiteľne for sixth time in a row. The event is aiming to present the works made by handicapped people to the general public and at the same time to cultivate the public opinion in respect of handicapped people capabilities, and to motivate potential employers  to integrate handicapped people into social life.

Living environment:  The Tree of the Year
Through financial support Nadácia Slovenskej sporiteľne also contributes to overall improvement of the living environment. The goal of the project The Tree of the Year, which is organised in cooperation with the foundation Ekopolis, was to turn attention of the general public to old, rare or endangered trees, and in doing so to motivate people to get involved in living environment improvement.

Year 2011
As for the activities of Nadácia Slovenskej sporiteľne in the future, the main emphasis will further be on culture, sports and education. „The main focus of our activities will be the development of financial literacy at targeted age groups. A long-term successful management of personal finances, irrespectively of an age,  contributes to overall improvement of the quality of life in different areas,“ explains  Marta Krejcarová, member of the Managing Board of Nadácia Slovenskej sporiteľne.
