According to the weekly Trend, Slovenská sporiteľňa is the most successful bank in Slovakia in 2006
On 7 November 2006, Slovenská sporiteľňa received the Bank of the year award from the weekly TREND and thus confirmed its position as the largest Bank in Slovakia and the leadership on the loans and deposits market. Slovenská sporiteľňa also won the award for the best electronic annual report.
"We are very glad that we were able to win also the voting of the magazine TREND which was the only award missing from prestigious national and international magazines. We were secretly hoping it might work out this time. The enormous increase in the volume of loans which made us to leaders on the Slovak loans market, was a positive sign. The award from TREND proves that we had a really successful year. I would like to thank our clients for their trust and all employees for their effort, we wouldn't be able to win the Bank of the year award without them. I am convinced that in the future we will remain the best bank in Slovakia for them," says Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Manager of Slovenská sporiteľňa Regina Ovesny-Straka.

Apart from the Bank of the year award and the award for the best electronic annual report from TREND, Slovenská sporiteľňa also received the Best bank in Slovakia award from the magazine Euromoney and defended its leading position from last year.
Slovenská sporiteľňa is with 2.5 million clients the largest commercial bank in Slovakia. In 2005 and 2006, the Bank was awarded the Euromoney Magazine Award "The Best Bank in Slovakia" and according to the weekly Trend, it's the most successful bank in Slovakia in 2006. The prestigious weekly magazine The Banker granted to Slovenská sporiteľňa the "Bank of the Year" Award in 2005. Its only shareholder is Erste Bank - an Austrian Bank that is according to the number of clients as well as the balance sheet total the largest bank in the Central European region.
